WOW it has been a crazy couple of weeks on the home front for us. A lot of emotions, shutting down, celebrations for over coming a fear, and a lot of school related craziness. Tonight is a girls night and I just wanted to take a moment and share in the greatness of my children's gifted minds.
I remember the days when the girls were little and we would snuggle up and I would read a bedtime story those days are fading. The girls have independent reading time now. We also still like to get together at night for a "family story" that they now read to me. This bedtime story used to be about 10-15 minutes well tonight it turned into about an hour. So much for getting to bed on time. The girls each picked a book tonight which is a usual to prevent fighting and also you can never read too much. They have to pick apart and over analyze everything. They went into detail about why every . , and ? were in the place they were. The also had to talk about how you read a sentence, when you take a pause, when to read with excitement. The books we were reading had pictures so they had to analyze if and why that picture made sense on that page. When you have two gifted minds in your family nothing is as simple as just reading a book. As much as I push for getting to bed on time tonight I just embraced my two gifted mind children and let them do their thing. Watching them have an in depth conversation with each other like two adults is just mesmerizing. It has taken a long time for me to be able to just take a breath, take a step back and embrace all the little traits and corks that make up my two gifted girls. We are on a journey of finding peace in this crazy roller coaster called life. We have days when we are hanging upside down in the dark wondering what the heck is going to happen next and then we have nights like tonight were we are at the very top of the hill with our arms in the air about to go down the hill screaming with excitement!
