This has been one of my favorite projects with my girls to date. First let me warn you I am a mother who loves messy crafts! While this activity is not challenging per say it helps us deal with one of the characteristics of being gifted. That characteristic is Perfection. Both my girls strive for perfection which we as adults know does not exist. I see it most in Alivia she strives for perfection in everything she does so much so you can see the stress it causes her. So this activity was to help her relax,be free and realize the beauty in the "imperfections" in life. I wanted her to that even when you throw eggs full of paint at a canvas it can be a beautiful piece of art. Here we go roll up your sleeves and prepare to get messy
Egg Smash Painting
You will need the following
A canvas (or I am sure a heavy duty piece of paper could work. I used a canvas because I wanted to be a permanent piece of art work in the house)
12 Eggs ( the amount is up to you. really depends on how many paintings you are doing or how big the canvas)
Paint (a squeezable container works best)
* No worries no eggs were wasted for this project*
First you have to prepare your eggs. I was baking that afternoon so I separated my eggs in a bowl to use for later. Instead of cracking your eggs like you normally would take the bottom of a butter knife and gently poke a whole big enough for the eggs to slide out. * If you can not find a use for a dozen eggs you can do this process over time by just preparing the eggs as you use them and saving the egg less shell in the carton till you have enough eggs. After you finish getting all the eggs out genitally wash the eggs out with soap and water then let them dry. This is what your eggs should look like when you are all finished.

Then you are ready to add paint to the eggs. I split the eggs in half between my girls and let them pick out the colors they wanted.
Now you are ready for the messy fun part! Make sure you wear play clothes. Place your canvas on a newspaper or in the grass . Now let the smashing begin!!!!!! We waited like a minute or two between each egg smash so that the paint would dry a little bit and the colors wouldn't all run together. * It is not necessary to wait between eggs.
Messy= Happy kids and mommy!
